The City of Jonesboro E911 Center will host a severe weather safety program at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, at the Valley View Fine Arts Center, 2118 Valley View Dr.

Meteorologist Ben Schott of the National Weather Service will be the guest speaker.

The program is free and open to the public.

Mother Nature forces Walk MS Jonesboro to move

 

Rainy weather has forced "Walk MS Jonesboro" to move their event tomorrow morning from downtown Jonesboro to the Philadelphia Baptist Church Gym, located 620 West Philadelphia.

Registration will still be held at 10 a.m. with the walk at 11.

According to an email from Brandi Moore, all activities will remain the same including great food, a silent auction, door prizes and games.

Proceeds from the walk with benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

As of 10 o'clock Thursday morning, all of Your Region 8 was under a Tornado Watch.

Meteorologist Bryan McCormick says we should expect a strong line of thunderstorms to roll through Region 8 "shortly before noon and last through the afternoon."

He says the main threats are strong winds, dangerous lightning and large hail. Isolated, strong tornadoes are also a possibility.

According to the Storm Prediction Center in Norman, OK, “there is no such thing as guaranteed safety inside a tornado.”

However, tornadoes can be survived by following these safety tips:

Frank sent this photo of the first clutch of eggs in his bluebird house.  He says last year they "had 4 clutches with a total of 14 new bluebirds."
