On Saturday, March 23, the Paragould Police Department will offer a concealed carry class at Black River Technical College, 1 Black River Dr. in Paragould.
The class will be held at 8 a.m., weather permitting. Students will spend approximately 4 hours in the classroom and 2 hours on the range. There will be a break for lunch.
The cost of the class is $69.95 and payment must be received by Friday, March 22. To register, contact Susan Mason at BRTC by calling (870) 239-0969, extension 103 or click here.
All handouts and applications will be provided. Students will need to bring a black ink pen and an Arkansas driver’s license or state I.D. card to the class. Firearms and ammunition will not be allowed in the classroom.
On the range, students will need to bring their firearm (if it’s a revolver, applicants will receive a restricted license meaning it is the only firearm they are allowed to carry). Students are encouraged to bring a minimum of 50 rounds of ammunition. Eye and ear protection will be provided for those who do not have their own.
Following completion of the class and successful range qualification, students will send their application packet, fingerprints and a check or money order for $141.25 to the Arkansas State Police Regulatory Division. The license will be valid for 5 years.
The class will be instructed by Chief Todd Stovall, Captain Faulkner and Captain Trout.
The department is also planning a basic firearms class in the near future. It will be designed for the novice shooter and is not part of the concealed carry class.
