PPD: Motorists urged to stop for school buses | News
The wheels on the bus go round and round. And when they stop to let kids off and on, the Paragould Police Departments says you better stop, too.
According to an email from PPD, the department has received numerous reports of vehicles not stopping for school buses, especially on Highway 49 South.
As a result, the department plans to beef up patrols in these trouble spots.
Arkansas law requires motorists to come to a complete stop when a school bus has its flashing red lights activated.
This rule applies to all vehicles meeting and passing the bus, no matter if the bus is on a multi-laned highway or city street. The only exception is if there is a median at least 20 feet wide dividing the traffic lanes.
