Paragould police laboring to reduce drunk driving | Crime
With the Labor Day holiday fast approaching, the Paragould Police Department is giving you two choices: Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.
Beginning Friday, August 16, and running through Monday, September 2, officers will be cracking down on drunk drivers.
According to a news release from the police department, drunk driving crashes account for approximately one in three fatalities annually.
During the 2011 Labor Day holiday, 138 people nationwide died in crashes involving drivers or motorcyclists whose blood alcohol concentration was .08 or higher. The majority of those crashes occurred between the hours of 6 p.m. and 5:59 a.m.
