Dollar General hosting career fair

 

Dollar General needs 10,000 new employees.

To fill that tall order, the company will host a career fair this Saturday, May 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Dollar General store located at 2118 S. Caraway.

Dollar General representatives will be available to discuss opportunities, receive resumes and discuss long-term opportunities with candidates.

ABC to address liquor store's location

ABC to address liquor store's location

 

When the Alcoholic Beverage Control board meets on May 15, the location of a Paragould liquor store will be up for debate.

On March 21 Lake City Liquor, 2210 West Kingshighway, was granted a transfer of location for its retail liquor and beer off premises permit.

According to an email from the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration, the transfer has been appealed by opponents.

The ABC board is expected to address the issue during its May meeting.

To be eligible, applicants must be 55 or older, unemployed, have incomes of $14,363 per year or less for a family of one ($19,388 for a family of two) and live in Clay, Craighead, Greene, Lawrence, Poinsett and Randolph Counties.

The Arkansas State University Small Business and Technology Development Center  (SBTDC) is offering a four-night hands-on “Introduction to QuickBooks” workshop beginning Tuesday, May 7, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the ASU Delta Center for Economic Development, 319 University Loop Circle.

Qdoba, Everyday Chef coming to Jonesboro

Haag Brown Commercial announced Friday it has closed on a deal to bring a new restaurant and store to Jonesboro.

Qdoba Mexican Grill and The Everyday Chef will be located on Parkwood Drive facing Sissy's Log Cabin and Panera Bread, according to a news release from Haag Brown Commercial.

Nix Construction has already begun site work and completion is expected in late summer.

Call for vendors for 2013 farmers' market

Last year shoppers flocked to downtown Kennett to shop for locally-grown produce and homebaked goods at the farmers’ market.

Organizers are hoping this year’s market, which kicks off Saturday, May 4, will be bigger and even better.

Vendors and the general public are invited to attend an informational meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 20, at the Dunklin County Courthouse parking lot.
