Downtown Kennett will be awash with color and art this weekend.

This Friday through Sunday, September 7-9, the Kennett Alliance for the Arts will host its annual “Fall into Arts Festival.”

The weekend begins at 7 p.m. Friday with a performance of Agatha Christie’s “Witness for the Prosecution.”  The play will be performed in a courtroom of the Dunklin County Courthouse, with an encore performance at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Visitors to downtown Kennett will find plenty of food, art and arts and crafts vendors from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from noon until 5 p.m. Sunday.    There will also be art and photography competitions as well as live music.  Among the performers are The NEA Caledonians, Scott Myatt, and The Steve Davis Trio with special guest Gary “El Buho” Gazaway.

According to Sara Graves, executive director of the Downtown Revitalization Program, additional events for the weekend include:

Presbyterian Bazaar from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 222 North Main

Kennett Farmers Market from 7 a.m. until noon in the parking lot of the Byrd’s Nest, 126 Saint Francis Street

Children’s youth drop-in story reading at the Dunklin County Library, 209 North Main Street.

The Fall into Arts Festival is sponsored by the City of Kennett, Mitchell Health Mart and Downtown Kennett and is presented by the Kennett Alliance for the Arts, a non-profit organization comprised of the Friends of Music, the CottonBoll Artist League and the Semo Little Theater.
