ASP urges everyone to "Click It or Ticket" this Memorial Day

The Memorial Day holiday weekend is less than two weeks away.

Whether you’re headed to the lake or just across town, the Arkansas State Police Highway Safety Office urges you to buckle up.

Beginning Monday, May 20, state, county and city law enforcement officers will be cracking down on motorists who are not using seat belts as part of the national “Click It or Ticket” campaign.

Colonel Stan Witt, director of the ASP and Governor’s Highway Safety representative, urges everyone to “buckle up on every trip, every time, both day and night—no excuses.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, obese children are more likely to have risk factors for high cholesterol and blood pressure.

They are also more likely to become obese as adults which puts them at even greater risk for heart disease, type 2 diabetes, osteoarthritis, stroke and several types of cancer.

To combat this epidemic the NEA Baptist Charitable Foundation is offering two free 3-week summer sessions to help kids and their families live a fit life.
