Special farewell planned for GCT "Old Main" building

PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) - Greene County Tech school officials say the original high school built in the late 40s will soon be no more. That's because the building, also known as "old main", is scheduled to be torn down.

"It's is called "old Main" and it was build in 1947. It was the original Greene County Tech High School," said GCT Superintendent Jerry Noble.

Spare change can change lives

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT)-The Agape House third annual, "Your Change is Changing Lives" fundraiser took place on Friday.

The Agape House works to help women with drug addiction problems get back on their feet and start again.

Executive Director of the Agape House, Sunny Curtis, says

she can relate to what the women she helps are going through.

Paragould Police searching for rape suspect

PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) – Paragould Police need your help in locating a rape suspect.

According to Paragould Police, Edward D. Howerton has a bench warrant out for his arrest for rape.

Police say Howerton's last known address was 404 north 5th Street in Paragould. Police believe he may also be in the Osceola area staying with family.

No other details about the crime are available at this time.

Wendell Randell Staton

Wendell Randell Staton, 72 of Paragould, died Wednesday at St. Bernard’s Medical Center.

Wendell was retired from Hytrol in Jonesboro and was a member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Armey veteran.

Wendell was preceded in death by his parents, Ollis and Emily Brashears Staton; brothers Delmar and Bert Staton and sister Faye Staton.

Henry Murlyn Hemingway, 73 of Marmaduke passed from this life on Tuesday April 3, 2012 at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. He was born on March 8, 1939 to the late Henry Sr. and Muryl (Bishop) Hemingway in Otter Lake, Michigan. Henry was a member of the V.F.W, American Legion, was of the Episcopalian faith, and served our country in the Army for 42 years. Henry was also a distant relative to Ernest Hemingway.

Mr. Hemingway was preceded in death by his parents: Henry Sr. and Muryl Hemingway, one brother: Max Hemingway, and one sister: Maxine Scott.

April is World Autism Awareness Month.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, 1 in 88 children in America has the developmental disability.

Chances are you know someone who is autistic.
